Hong Kong ~ Home! (7-29 Dec, 2003)Strictly speaking, I shouldn't include this in "on the road" section because I am really going home...but it's easier to put all the pictures in this place. It's really exciting to see all the friends in HK whom I always miss. And of course the food is a big attraction too. The 3 weeks' trip includes a few visits to various places in China, totalling about a week...I actually went to Dell's manufacturing plant in Xiamen and the office in Shanghai, and spoke to the people there. It had been a great learning experience. However, no pictures on that part since company policy disallow taking pictures. It's not that important to me anyways. But there would be pictures for another place I went to - Yim Tin, the coastal town and loading harbours that develop explosively in recent years.
-- With friends in SPCC, taken in a small cafe near Times Square(From left to right)
-- Paul, May and Mike in "Hui Lau Shan" (許留山), an Asian style cafeBefore we went to watch Infernal Affairs 3...
-- Having dinner in a Jap restaurant with some 3E friends in Causeway Bay(From front to back) P.S. Really funny to see Luna in suit - she joined us directly from work - since I knew her back in early teens and it's hard to imagine your childhood friends dressing so formal yeah? Luna - just in case you are reading this - I am impressed! hehe.
-- @ Neway Karaoke with friends (mostly) from SPCC AM primary schoolI didn't expect to meet such a stunning number of primary school friends this winter, as a lot
among us are not currently living in HK. It's a co-incidence that everyone came back for vacation
around the same time. That night really rocks!
-- @ Neway Karaoke with Gabriel, Arthur and KennethBest friends since the good old days!
-- With my favourite group "M33", during their weekly rehearsal @ HKUFormed by a group of SPCC singing enthusiasts, and I had known many among them before. Looking
at them, I truly wish I can sing better back in SPCC days so that I could join the school choir...
-- On the way home with Henry, my younger brotherHenry is in Dulwich College in UK and going to have his advanced level exams in a few months' time. He's going to do mathematics, which is something he likes and is really talented.
-- Performing in a concert featuring my parents' generation...It's organized by a Hong-Kong based association, which her members were mostly 華僑 that used to live in Beijing before. I was "called to duty" by my mom to play. It's a nice experience as I haven't played in larger groups since I left SPCC string orchestra upon my studying abroad. I did enjoy it - especially the songs we played didn't take too long for me to practise! My mom is the one next to me, in yellow.
-- Another picture of mine, playing violin
-- Taken near the border of Hong Kong (落馬州), before a trip to FuTian and YanTian
-- 福田保稅區入口Entrance of FuTian bonded area
-- Inside FuTian bonded area"Bonded area" is a policy created to attract foreign firms to set up manufacturing facilities. The idea behind is that all tariffs on imported raw material/half-finished goods would be exempted if they are to be contained and worked on in the bonded area. There are many bonded area not only in Guangdong, but also in other coastal provinces as well.
-- YanTian (鹽田)YanTian Harbour has been growing exponentially in terms of the volume of cargo loaded/unloaded, and becoming one of Asia's biggest logistic centre.
-- 3 generations together, taken @ my uncle's homeMy grandmother surrounded by her daughters and sons (incl in-laws), and her grand sons/daughters. My parents, brother and I are all in this picture. Click on the picture for a 1280x960 sized version.
